The Skinny - Music

Entertainment Weekly ran an ad recently for something I just had to check out and now I am so excited about it that I of course have to pass it along to you! I had no clue that this existed but some of the brightest names in music have come together to contribute songs for (of all things) a soundtrack to a zombie video game. Yes, you heard right, a ZOMBIE video game where you are the zombie no less! As you might imagine, this intimidates and excites me at the same time. I have no desire to play this game but the soundtrack is delicious! Pun intented. Modern day artists re-animate an unlucky 13 song set of classic 50's bop.

Speaking of the brightest names in music, as noted on Steph's blog a little while back, Saddle Creek has released "Lagniappe: A Saddle Creek Benefit for Hurricane Katrina Relief" I just picked it up and it is mighty mighty. I never cease to be amazed at what a talented family unit Saddle Creek has produced. Go check it out!

Do you hear that squeal? It's me!!! Hey pig piggy pig pig pig. Getting ready to have my concert fix! In no greater than a week, I will be muttering "I want to fuck you like an animal" to my best friend Steph except she will totally dig it and such and we'll both be oogling Trent's new biceps, pasty as they may be. From there, I will next be hearing the effervescent sound of soul meeting body with cute little Ben Gibbard and Death Cab. Ba da ba da da da da ... all culminating in the grandaddy of concert experiences for me, the second date of Depeche Mode's U.S. tour! I will be enjoying the silence (six rows back no less) in pure electro-goth heaven. By the way, the new album is great!!!! All of this of course shared with my best of friends who will no doubt forgive my constant whining about how much damn money this is costing! You know what they say, no pain...no Dave Gahan.
!
Here's where you'll find me
10/25 Nine Inch Nails/QOTSA/Death From Above 1979 [ORena]
10/30 Death Cab For Cutie/Stars [Hard Rock Live Orlando]
11/03 Depeche Mode/The Bravery [St. Pete Times Forum]

Hey SkinnyTie,

Do you think just like in middle school...and trailer parks around the US, you could make me a "Mix Tape" of your favorite "SkinnyTie Mix" music...a sampling of sorts of what is out there via Saddle Creek?

Between you and Steph I am intrigued.

Please?

xoxo and all things dwtedq,
Lindy

DWT EDQ: The etiquette demonstrated by those who practice a life'downtown' that uses eDiQuit, verses uptowns "etiquette."

An example of Downtown Ediquit includes lazily leaning on the counter at a fast food location, lookn' at your nails, then realizing you have to take the order, shuffling, a la bedroom shoes over to the register and while looking out the window, or same nail, expressing such formalities as, "Welcome to McDonald's. Would you like to try our new BigNTastey for just a dolla?" (It is important that the auditor say it in a mechanical, yet annoyed and unfocused voice, to completely demonstrate true ediquit.)
