Pickin' n Grinnin' n Clappin'

I am not sure if you are aware of the magical thing that is taking place over on CMT raht 'bout now, but the Saturday night hoe-down that your parents forced you to watch is back on the air...sort of. Love it or hate it (I prefer to sop it up like beans on cornbread), Hee-Haw's moldy corpse has been raised from the cornfield once more and is being broadcast in all of its Technicolor glory.
!
If you are like me, you were raised on Men at Work and Duran Duran but could pick Lu Lu Roman out of a line-up and thought Grandpa Jones and Minnie Pearl were the best grandparents alive!! At the time, I abhorred having to watch any kind of pickin' or grinnin' and even at 6 years old, I knew that those crappy cornfield jokes and one dimensional sets sucked balls. However, as my life has progressed, things like Bratz cartoons and My Super Sweet Sixteen sit like acid rock in my stomach. A second glance at Hee-Haw reveals wildly colorful character development, USDA grade-A kitsch and yes, jokes so shitty you need to light a match. But given the chance to see people with feathered hair and rash-inducing skin tight jeans square dance or Hank Williams Jr. do a spit take all over Buck Owens makes this show worth checking out a second time around.
!
If you do get a chance to tune in (and please do), take special joy in the "pickin' and grinnin'" segment which is sheer corn-pone horniness. It has head swayin', banjo pickin', joke tellin' and best of all, an overload on hand clappin'!! Also, you can never have enough Junior Samples. Trust me.

Down with Bratz! I can't STAND those things! So - is this a sign that we are just getting old?
